How to Hear God’s Voice Over Noise
Life today is louder than it has ever been. Between endless scrolling, constant notifications, and the heavy noise of opinions from every direction, many women find themselves asking: How do I know when God is speaking to me?
The truth is, God has never stopped speaking. The issue is that the noise of the world often drowns out the still, small voice of the Spirit. Scripture reminds us in John 10:27, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” Hearing God isn’t about Him being louder; it’s about us being still enough to listen.
One of the most powerful ways to tune in to God’s voice is by creating sacred quiet spaces. Stillness allows us to separate His whispers from the chaos of the world. Whether it’s setting aside a few minutes each morning before the world wakes up, or taking a walk without distractions, silence gives God room to speak into the deep places of our hearts.
Another way God speaks clearly is through His Word. The Bible is not just a book; it is His living voice to us. When you meditate on scripture, you open your heart to direction, correction, and encouragement that will never contradict His truth. A single verse, repeated and prayed over, can cut through confusion and bring peace like nothing else.
Journaling also helps quiet the noise. By writing down prayers, thoughts, and even your questions, you create space to notice patterns and answers you might otherwise overlook. God often reveals Himself in reflection, showing you that He’s been speaking all along.
It’s important to remember that God’s voice carries His nature. His voice will never lead you into fear, shame, or confusion. Instead, it will always align with peace, love, and His Word. Whenever you’re uncertain, measure what you’re hearing against these qualities. If it produces anxiety or contradiction with scripture, it’s not His voice.
Awakened woman, God’s voice is not distant or unreachable. He is speaking in your spirit, through His Word, and in the quiet moments you give Him. The more intentional you are about turning down the noise, the clearer His whispers will become. He is waiting for you to pause, to listen, and to follow.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
